Paris - Climbing barehanded and without ropes, a French urban climber who calls himself "Spiderman" scaled the 59-storey Montparnasse Tower in Paris on Wednesday.
Alain Robert took less than 45 minutes to climb the 210-metre-high office building, gripping its metal girders on his way up. At the top, he waved to a small crowd that had gathered at the bottom, some shouting "Allez, Alain!" (Go, Alain!).
Robert, 42, who is renowned for climbing without ropes or other equipment, has also scaled the Eiffel Tower and more than 30 skyscrapers, including New York's Empire State Building in 1994, and the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1997.
