Hebron - A Palestinian civilian and a militant were killed on Wednesday by Israeli troops in separate incidents in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip, officials said.
In the flashpoint town of Hebron in the West Bank, Yehia Jabari, 68, was shot dead by soldiers who raided his house to detain one of his sons. Jabari's wife and two more of his children were wounded, medics said.
An Israeli army spokesman said the soldiers were searching a house in Hebron for wanted suspects when they were attacked by residents who threw a gas canister at them.
One Palestinian tried to grab the weapon of a soldier "who was forced to open fire," said the spokesman, adding that two men wanted by Israel were detained.

In Gaza, Kamal Saed, a Hamas militant, was killed in an Israeli air raid on Jabaliya in the north of the coastal strip, security sources said. It was earlier reported that he had been killed by tank fire.
An army spokesperson said that the Israeli air force targeted a group of armed Palestinians who were placing explosive devices.
The raid was the latest Israeli strike on Gaza after the army resumed attacks on May 16 following a six-month truce, in response to increased rocket fire from the lawless territory.
The Israeli raids have so far killed 16 civilians and 38 militants, mostly from Hamas.
Since May 15, more than 285 rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel, killing two civilians, wounding more than 20 people, and sending hundreds fleeing from the southern town of Sderot that has borne the brunt of the fire.
Wednesday's deaths bring to 5743 the number of people killed since the start of the second Palestinian uprising in September 2000, the vast majority of them Palestinians, according to an AFP count. - Sapa-AFP
