The African National Congress has received the majority of votes in eight provinces, with opposition party Democratic Alliance garnering a victory in the Western Cape.
Eastern Cape: The ANC received 1,552,676 votes (68.82 percent) followed by the Congress of the People with 308,439 votes (13.67 percent). The Democratic Alliance received 225,310 votes (9.99 percent). The United Democratic Movement received 93,196 votes (4.13 percent). The other 13 parties that contested the provincial election all received under one percent of the votes.
Free State: The ANC won 734,688 votes (71.10 percent) followed by COPE with 120,018 votes (11.61 percent). COPE just nicked ahead of the DA who received 119,844 votes (11.6 percent). The Freedom Front Plus received 20,780 (2.01 percent). The Dikwankwetla Party of SA received 11,257 votes (1.09 percent). The remaining 14 parties received below one percent support.

Gauteng: The ANC received 2,660,267 votes (63.99 percent). The DA won 908,616 (21.86 percent) and COPE received 323,327 votes (7.78 percent). The FF Plus received 67,660 votes (1.63 percent) and the Inkatha Freedom Party took 61,856 votes (1.49 percent). The remaining 15 parties that contested received under one percent of votes.
KwaZulu-Natal: The ANC took 2,19,516 votes (62.95 percent) followed by the IFP with 780,027 votes (22.40 percent). The DA won 318,559 votes (9.15 percent) and the Minority Front took 71,507 votes (2.05 percent). COPE won 44,890 votes (1.29 percent). The remainder 12 parties received under one percent.
Limpopo: The ANC won 1,265,631 votes (84,88 percent) followed by COPE with 112,325 votes (7.53 percent). The DA received 51,856 votes (3.48 percent). The remainder 15 parties received under one percent of the province's vote.
Mpumalanga: The ANC received the support of 1,110,190 voters (85.55 percent) followed by the DA won 97,204 votes (7.49 percent) and COPE 37,789 votes (2.91 percent). The remainder 12 parties contesting at a provincial level received under one percent of votes
North West: The ANC scooped 783,794 votes (72,89 percent) followed by COPE with 89,573 votes (8.33 percent) and the DA with 88,728 votes (8.25 percent). The United Christian Democratic Party received 56,678 votes (5.27 percent). The remaining 12 political parties received under one percent.
Western Cape: The DA took a stronghold with 1,012,568 (51,46 percent) followed by the ANC with 620,918 votes (31.55 percent). COPE followed with 152,356 votes (7.74 percent) and was itself followed by the Independent Democrats with 92,116 votes (4.68 percent). The ACDP received 28,995 percent of votes (1.47 percent). The remaining 17 parties received under one percent.
Northern Cape: The ANC took 245,699 votes (60.75 percent) followed by COPE with 67,416 votes (16.67 percent) and the DA with 50,817 votes (12,57 percent). The ID won 19,995 votes (4.94 percent), the FF Plus took 5.034 votes (1.24 percent), the UCDP received 4,889 votes (1.21 percent) and the ACDP won 4,041 votes (1 percent). - Sapa
