The Young Communists League of SA on Tuesday called on the youth to support the call for the SA Reserve Bank (SARB) to scrap inflation targeting and to cut interest rates.
"This June 16 should be a clarion call to the working class and the poor youth to support Numsa's mass actions which has been endorsed by Cosatu to the SA Reserve Bank to demand for the scrapping of inflation targets policy and cutting of interest rates," the YCLSA said in a statement.
"It is our belief that the role of the Reserve Bank should be reviewed and redefined to focus on job creation and mitigating the global financial crisis in the midst of jobs bloodbath, repossessions of cars and houses by Capitalist institutions."

The league was responding to a call by the National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) and the Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) for the SARB to scrap inflation targeting and cut interest rates.
Numsa said earlier this month it would ask all Cosatu affiliates to join in rolling mass action if the SARB did not cut interest rates.
The YCLSA also said it was "excited" about the launch of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) on Youth Day.
"The establishment of the NYDA buries both the useless National Youth Commission and Umsobomvu Youth Fund which were used to dispense patronage and corrupt genuine youth leaders," it said.
The YCLSA said the NYDA should focus on fighting poverty and unemployment, and "[r]edefining the role of youth in economic empowerment from individual-centredness to collectivism".
It should also broaden access to higher education and training and foster the youth's access to health care and the fight against HIV and Aids.
In addition, the NYDA should broaden access to land for "residential and productive purposes", the league said. - Sapa
