South Africa must soon ratify a treaty banning cluster bombs, said the Ceasefire Campaign on Thursday.

"South Africa signed the convention to ban cluster munitions in December," Kennedy Mabasa of the Ceasefire Campaign told reporters in Johannesburg.

At the time of the signing of the convention in December, then Defence Minister Charles Nqakula promised the treaty would be signed but not until after the elections, said Mabasa.
