Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma on Tuesday congratulated Botswana President Seretse Khama on his re-election.

Khama will serve another term until 2014.

"I wish to convey my warmest congratulations on behalf of the government of the Republic of South Africa and its people on the occasion of your re-election as President... and the victory of the Botswana Democratic Party," Zuma said in a statement.

"I would like to reconfirm my appreciation of the excellent, warm and close relations that exist between our two countries and between its peoples."

Zuma said it was his wish that the "close brotherly ties" continued to prosper during Khama's new term of office. - Sapa
