London - War veterans marauding across rural Zimbabwe have resorted to rape on at least two occasions as they seek to drive white farmers off their land, The Times reported on Thursday, citing the husband of one of the victims.
Two women were raped by two assailants among about five men who stormed their home on Tuesday night, as part of the violent seizure of white farmsteads by veterans of Zimbabwe's war of independence, The Times reported.
The victims, a 25-year-old and her 18-year-old sister, are nieces of a senior figure in the Commercial Farmers Union, and were asked who they were going to vote for in upcoming parliamentary elections.

Thousands of war veterans have occupied hundreds of white-owned farms since February, killing two white farmers in separate incidents this week.
