Southampton - Kenya captain Steve Tikolo, having won the toss, has elected to field against India in the opening Pool C fixture of the ICC Champions Trophy on Saturday.

India made one change to the side that beat England at Lord's on Sunday with quick bowler Ajit Agarkar coming in for spinner Anil Kumble. Virender Sehwag has been promoted back to his customary position of opening the batting.

The 25-year-old has had a torrid time in the one-day game scoring just 27 runs in his last five innings and is hoping to rediscover his form against the least-fancied team in the pool.

India's Lakshmipathy Balaji has been ruled out of the tournament with an abdominal injury and is replaced by medium-pacer Amit Bhandari. They are also missing Sachin Tendulkar, who has tennis elbow. His place in the squad has gone to Rohan Gavaskar.

Kenya included Ravindu Shah, their in-form batsman, who scored a double century against Pakistan A last month. He made 60 against South Africa in the last World Cup when Kenya reached the semi-finals.

If rain interrupts play then Sunday has been designated as a reserve day.

Twenty overs have to bowled in the second innings of the game to constitute a match. Pakistan are the other team in Pool C and will play Kenya at Edgbaston on Tuesday before taking on India at the same ground next Sunday.

That hugely anticipated game is already a sell-out. India are joint holders of the trophy with Sri Lanka. The 2002 final was ruined by rain and the spoils were shared.
