Antigua - The West Indies have named 19-year-old Jamaican opener Xavier Marshall in their squad for the first two matches in the one-day cricket series against South Africa.
Marshall, who has played one one-dayer, was among five men drafted into the squad for the five-match series. The first two games are in Kingston on Saturday and Sunday.
"These eight games, five against South Africa and three against Pakistan (who will tour the West Indies after South Africa), give us a chance to begin preparations for the 2007 World Cup and we will be trying players in certain positions," selection convener Michael Carew was quoted as saying in a West Indies Cricket Board media release.
