Athletics world champion Caster Semenya has been so traumatised by the gender testing debacle that she has informed the University of Pretoria that she is unable to write exams, Beeld reported on Thursday.

Her trainer, Michael Seme, told the Afrikaans daily that he suspected the trauma of the questions around her gender was only hitting her now.

"Her head is very tired," said Seme.

"Fortunately, the university has a good understanding of her situation and made it clear to her that exams are the last thing she should worry about at the moment.

"It is very important for all of us that Caster deals with the trauma in her own way, but we are all there for her if she needs us.

"She will write exams when she is ready."

Semenya is studying Sports Science at the university.

She won the 800m during the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in August. However, the significant improvement in her time, her masculine physique and deep voice drew her gender into question.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) ordered gender tests on 18-year-old Semenya, but has refused to comment on reports that it showed she was a hermaphrodite.

Several organisations have called for the axing of Leonard Chuene - the head of Athletics SA - for the manner in which the saga was handled. - Sapa

How despicable you can be Anonymous, what would you do if you were in her socks. No wonder you are Anonymous your embarrassed to say your name...I bet you belong to the old Afrikaaner regime and you could be responsible for leaking something that doesn't consent you to Beeld and the Australian press. So go jump and kill your self, she will write the exams when she's ready......

Lolly gets grilled for his Teazers poster ... but the press and other media can ride this story hollow?! Let the woman be and stop writing stuff about her every time she turns a corner. I think its the press' fault that she is in the state she is. Find something more important to write about - like Obama's failure to keep any of his campaign promises or how dangerous untested H1N1 flu vaccines are ... news and stuff people really need to know about. Stop feeding us irrelevant stuff like this ... oh and while you're at it, we really don't need to hear anything more from Malema either.

It has been aggravetd by ASA denying and then eventually admitting to lying and all the ANC people getting involved and keeping themselves in the limelight.

Mr Chuene should be truly ashamed of himself, and he should be disciplined or fired immediately!

The damage he did to Caster and South Africa is really disgusting!!

Shame, I doubt I can come close to understanding the turmoil in her head. What makes me sick is how little guidence was given to her initially when the whole thing blew up, but rather the ANC clowns hijacked her for their gains. It would be so rich if she votes opposition next election. Strongs to you, Caster.

A lot of people lack insight and it is a shame that when we supposed to support each other we don't. I must say I was very excited to see the news that Kaya fm has axed the vocal and insensitive Phat Joe. Caster give yourself time to heal and you represented our country with pride, you go girl.
