Berlin - Jan Ullrich may be under investigation for doping but the German rider refuses to put his personal life on hold and married his partner, Sara Steinhauser, in a secret ceremony on Sunday.

"I am so delighted that Sara accepted my proposal. She is the best woman in the world and I want to spend the rest of my life with her," Ullrich said in Bild daily.

The 32-year-old Ullrich has been with Sara, 28, since June 2005 after splitting from his former partner Gaby Weiss, the mother of his three-year-old daughter Sarah Maria.

The career of 1997 Tour de France winner Ullrich is in limbo after the T-Mobile team sacked him prior to this year's Tour after a Spanish investigation found evidence he was involved in doping.

Ullrich is said to have been given blood-boosting drug EPO, steroids and human growth hormones by Madrid-based sports doctor, Eufemiano Fuentes, the head of a blood-doping ring.

The German rider denies the allegations and says he does not know Fuentes.
