German club VfB Stuttgart refused on Tuesday to respond to reports it was interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.
Horst Heldt, the club's sports director, refused to comment on German media reports he had already been in contact with 38-year-old Lehmann, who is leaving Arsenal at the end of the season.
"I am not going to respond to what one paper or another is speculating," Heldt said.
However, Lehmann has been reported in British media as saying he could see himself playing for Stuttgart. However the 38-year-old keeper has not ruled out retiring from the game altogether following the European Championships.

Lehmann, who lost his place to Manuel Almunia in the Arsenal side but is still first choice for Germany, said: "Yes, if I choose to keep playing, then I can imagine playing for VfB (Stuttgart). VfB is an established name in the Bundesliga."
Stuttgart are searching for a new goalkeeper, with their number one Raphael Schaefer told this week he can stay at home.
Fans have turned against Schaefer, who joined from Nuremberg last season, and the goalkeeper was at fault against Dortmund and on Saturday in a 4-0 defeat at Wolfsburg.
Heldt said the decision to leave him out for the last game of the season against Arminia Bielefeld was taken for the keeper's own protection. Sven Ulreich, 19, will take his place in goal. - Sapa-dpa
