London - Record champions United States were on Tuesday drawn to host Belgium in a Davis Cup play-off tie from which the loser will be relegated from the World Group.

Coming off a stunning 3-2 home defeat in the first round against Croatia, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and company at least escaped a difficult away match when they drew Belgium, who are attempting to gain a place in the World Group via the European/African zone.

Two other ex-champions, Spain and Sweden, were also drawn to play at home, against Italy and India, respectively.

But Germany face a difficult match at the Czech Republic in the playoffs scheduled for September 23-25.
