As South Africa gear up for semifinal weekend - both the semifinals of the IRB Rugby World Cup and the Absa Currie Cup will be played this weekend - Springbok captain John Smit and his teammates will be watching Saturday's dometic action live on SuperSport from their Paris hotel room.

Smit's Boks take on Argentina in St Denis at 9pm on Sunday, with France meeting England in the other semifinalat the same time and venue on Saturday.

Earlier on Saturday, the Sharks entertain the Lions in the first Currie Cup semifinal in Durban at 2.30pm and the Cheetahs take on the Blue Bulls in Bloemfontein at 5pm. All these matches will be live on SuperSport 1 and M-net.

"There'll be a lot of rugby to watch before Sunday night arrives. Thanks to SuperSport we have DStv in our hotel so we'll get to watch the Currie Cup semis on Saturday as well as the France-England semifinal, in English, on Saturday night," Smit told SuperSport.

"For me it's an exciting time and I can't wait for Sunday night to come.I take my hat off to the Sharks for having reached a semifinal given all the players who've been away. I take my hat off to coach John Plumtree and all the youngsters for having come so far. I certainly wish them the best and hope they can go all the way."

Smit was cautiously optimistic about the Boks' chances on Sunday.

"As they play-offs get further and further the pressure becomes more and more. I think we saw in the quarterfinals that all eight teams did not play as well as they had previously in the tournament - that's just pressure, the first time it becomes do or die," continued Smit.

"In the semi-final there will be even more opportunities for a team to take stock, get together, re-focus, certainly there's no one-way traffic in play-offs like this because of the pressure that both teams are under.
