Richmond, Texas - Michelle Wie has withdrawn from the LPGA Tour Championship because of a sprained left ankle.

Coming off her first tour victory last week in Mexico, the 20-year-old Wie shot a 72 on Thursday, limping through her round on the ankle that she first injured at the Solheim Cup in August.

Wie went for treatment after her round and withdrew about an hour later. She acknowledged that her ankle hurt last week and felt even worse on Thursday.

Wie was 3 under through 12 holes. But her ankle gave way on the 13th tee, and she stumbled backward, sliced her tee shot into the rough and took her first bogey.
