DURBAN-BASED Irish minstrel Dave Monks will present an evening of mirth, merriment and singalong Irish music at the Sterling Theatre at the Italian Club in Fairway, Durban North, next month.

Monks, who has a proven repertoire of rousing Irish favourites and other popular songs, delivers a touch of the blarney in his collection of Irish tales and jokes.

He was born and raised in Dublin, which gives more than a touch of authenticity to his Irish music and humour.

Monks, who is adept on the fiddle, banjo and harmonica, as well as the guitar, is scheduled to perform at the Stirling Theatre at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, September 2 and 3, and again at 3pm on Sunday, September 4.

Tickets cost R80 and for an additional R80 at the Sunday performance one can order a three-course lunch.

Otherwise, visitors are encouraged to take along picnic baskets, although drinks have to be bought at the pub on the premises.
