Durban – The city and surrounding suburbs will be affected by road closures on Sunday as cyclist tackle the aQuellé Tour Durban.

The main event is the 105km road race that takes riders from the start at Moses Mabhida up to Pinetown and then back to the beachfront before they head to Ballito and back.

But the good news for cyclists is that near-perfect weather is predicted

“It looks like we are going to be very lucky with the weather this year,” said race organiser Stu Berry as he inspected the start and finish venue at Moses Mabhida Stadium this week.

Late entries will be taken at the race registration at the stadium today from 10am to 5pm. The late entry fees are R450 for the premier 105km Classic, R300 for the 55km mountain bike/road race Cyclocross event, and R250 for the shorter 45km fun ride road event. All riders will be asked to produce CSA licences or be asked to buy a day licence.

Roads that form the route will be closed to traffic at various times.
