Petrol price to go up again next week.
CONSUMER delight at the new year drop in the fuel price turned to dismay yesterday, as the Department of Energy announced a 34c a litre petrol price hike from Wednesday.
The price of diesel and illuminating paraffin, however will drop between 1c and 2c a litre for diesel, and up to 4c a litre for illuminating paraffin. The maximum retail price of liquid petroleum gas also increases, by 50c a kilogram.
United Association of South Africa spokesman André Venter said the increase would drive up the prices of consumer goods for months to come and might result in job losses.
