Mama, moeder, mom or whatever you choose to call her - your mom is probably the most important person in your life, besides your children and your partner.

She's the one you run to whenever you need a shoulder to cry; the one that takes your side in arguments or the one that laughs with you. In celebration of all the mother warriors out there, we've asked a few local celebs what Mother's Day truly means for them.

7de Laan's Quinne Brown

My mom is one of the most present witnesses in my life. She's the one that I can always count on. Her guidance and unconditional love is real for me. Today she is one of my best friends, a mentor and inspiration.

Actress Mimi Mahlasela

My mom is the best mother in the world because she's taught me to be a strong woman - she's raised me with a mentality that I must try my best in all that I do and never give up no matter the circumstances. I don't only show her my appreciation on Mother's Day, but I try to tell her as often as I can that I love her.

Singer and dancer Kristen Raath

What I love most about my mother is her ability to handle every situation and every person with utter grace.
