An after-work perk can be found at the new My Space Restaurant in Gardens, if your wallet can handle it. With some Patron for added luxury, I would suggest this if you want a treat and have a few bucks to burn.

Barman Scelo Zondi makes the drink by placing all the spirits in a shaker with four blocks of ice and a shot of prepared espresso coffee. This is shaken slowly and drizzled into a martini glass and garnished with three coffee beans.

It was certainly a pick-my-energy-levels-up drink that packed a caffeine punch. The Patron added some lightness. A pretty foam sits at the top of the drink and lasts for most of the experience.

Straws are provided but are not really necessary for a martini glass drink. It goes down easily, so sip it slowly.

My Space owner Thami Mthembu says the place has been open for a month. He describes it as a relaxed, sociable environment. It is housed in a two-floor building, with the upstairs area available for event hire. and a smoking lounge. My Space is also a restaurant and a wine bar.

Happy hour specials are daily from 5pm until 7pm. – Weekend Argus
