Corner of Beach Road and Surrey Place, Mouille Point, Cape Town

Cocktail: The Pink Wafu

Price: R42

Ingredients: Malibu rum, Bacardi rum, pineapple juice and grenadine

It is okay to drink pink drinks, especially when you can enjoy a view like the one at Wakame in Mouille Point.

Wakame and Wafu general manager Matthew Brits says the drink is made by shaking the ingredients in a shaker with ice and straining it into a 340ml cocktail glass. Grenadine is added for colour.

When the final product was served, it was garnished with pineapple and cherries and thick pink foam on the top. The texture was juicy with ice and pineapple flesh throughout. Brits says the drink is especially popular on hot days.

Wakame and Wafu is an Asian fusion restaurant and bar. Wakame’s offering is à la carte and Wafu’s is Asian tapas. Both parts of the establishment offer the same drinks and sushi.

There are beautiful views of Table Bay.

The bar is open seven days a week from noon until 10.30pm. – Weekend Argus
