You can raise a glass to the 18 award winning South African wines who won medals at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

It was held at the Hotel Nikko, San Francisco and there were 2 253 spirit entries from all around the world.

Notably the Director’s Award of Excellence went to Distell Group, SA.

The Distell group also took most of the SA medals walking home with 11 accolades, which are:

- Double Gold Medal for Van Rhyn’s, 20 year old Collectors Reserve Brandy

- Double Gold Medal for Van Rhyn’s, 12 year old Distillers Reserve Brandy

- Double Gold Medal for Oude Meester, Demant Brandy

- Double Gold Medal for Oude Meester, 12 year old Reserve Brandy

- Double Gold Medal for Oude Meester, 18 year old Souverein Brandy

- Gold Medal for Amarula

- Gold Medal for Richelieu, 10 year old Brandy

- Silver Medal for Three Ships, 5 year old Premium Select Whisky

- Silver Medal for Three Ships, Special Reserve Bourbon Cask Finish Whisky

- Silver Medal for Three Ships, Select Whisky

- Silver Medal for Van Rhyn’s, 15 year old Fine Cask Reserve Brandy

The other winners are

- Double Gold Medal for Triple Three African Botanicals Gin, Gentleman Spirits SA

- Gold Medal for Triple Three 100% Juniper Berry Gin, Gentleman Spirits SA

- Silver Medal for Bains Cape Mountain Whisky

- Silver Medal for Heart of Darkness Coffee Liqueur, Distillery 031

- Silver Medal for Durban Dry Gin, Distillery 031

- Silver Medal for Step 5 Dry Gin, The Step 5 Spirits Company

- Bronze Medal for Triple Three Citrus Infusion Gin, Gentleman Spirits SA
