Pretoria - Kievits Kroon Country Estate just outside Pretoria will be host to the Robertson Wine Valley Festival over the weekend of August 2 and 3.

More than two dozen leading wine farms and winemakers from the Robertson Wine Valley will be exhibiting and selling their wares.

To complement the fruits of the vine on offer, the festival will include an extensive on-site market featuring organic produce and handmade crafts sourced from the Robertson valley as well as from Gauteng traders.

Items on offer at the market range from cheeses, olives and fresh produce, freshly brewed coffee, pastries and cakes at the patisserie and handmade leather goods, organic candles as well as children’s entertainment including sand art and beading

You can either buy your fare at the market, and bring a blanket to enjoy a leisurely picnic on the grounds venue, or pre-purchase a picnic basket when you buy your tickets to the festival.

Vendors will be offering fare ranging from gourmet pizza to spit-roast baguettes, or you can treat yourself to a buffet lunch at Kievits Kroon’s restaurant.

Whether you’re a wine connoisseur or an everyday wine lover, an avid foodie or just love experiencing the finer things in life in a family friendly outdoor setting – it’s a day out in the city – but you’ll feel like you’re in the Cape countryside!

Tickets cost R180 per person a day or R320 for the weekend, with the entrance free for children under 18 (a nominal fee will be requested for entrance to the secure children’s area).

Visit www.webtickets.co.za to buy your early-bird tickets (R150 a day and R280 for the weekend if bought before July 27) and look for more packages.

If you don’t want to drive, you can take the Gautrain to Hatfield station where there will be a shuttle service that will run from 9am on the hour, every hour, until 4pm.

The return transfer will be from Kievits Kroon starting at 9.30am, with the last departure at 5.30pm.
