Joburgers made the most of three warm evenings in a row this past weekend to attend the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show presented by The Star at Montecasino in Fourways.

People streamed through the venue on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to sample hundreds of different wines, sparkling wines, and even wine-based ice-cream in a carnival themed exhibition hall and adjacent garden decked out with marquees.

There was something for everyone's palate, whether you were an entry level wine lover or a budding sommelier, with wine-makers doing brisk trade in wine sales over the three evenings.

Look forward to a gif-tastic photo booth, that not only sends your photos to your social media, but creates a Boomerang GIF of the photo.

A definite draw-card was The Star Wine Theatre where sparkling wine tasting and informative and entertaining hosts shared their knowledge on everything from the magic of sparkling wine through to unusual varietals and sampling of the Spar Private Collection.

Andrew Douglas, owner of the TOPS at SPAR Wine Show said their emphasis on pairings, whether it is wine and chocolate, wine and friends, or wine and art, enhanced the experience for the crowd.

"We cater for everyone, from the entry level wine drinker to the experienced connoisseur, all ages, and income brackets, there is something for everyone," he said.

And now it is Durban's turn!  The TOPS at SPAR Wine Show, presented by the Independent on Saturday, takes place at Suncoast Casino this coming week.

The events on Thursday and Friday are between 5pm and 9pm, while the closing show on Saturday opens at 3pm and closes at 9pm.
