Johannesburg - Where do you find the best ribs in the city? The best milkshakes? The best bunny chow?

It’s questions like these that have made a Facebook group explode with followers over the past few weeks, with dozens of suggestions from people across the city on where to find the best restaurant experiences.

The group, which is called Jozi Restaurants - The good, the bad, the ugly, has more 24 000 members with hundreds of posts and reviews for restaurants throughout the city. While it’s less formal than review apps like Yelp, the page has revealed some hidden gems that you may want to try out.

After posting about where to find the best ribs in Joburg, within an hour The Star had received a dozen responses for venues in the north, south, east and west.

Blacksteer in Fourways, Thundergun in Blackheath, Brontos in Linden, Social on Main in the CBD, the Diner in Krugersdorp, Burgerrack in the South - the list goes on.

The group is also dedicated to identifying the good, bad and ugly of the more expensive restaurants in Joburg.

And while such a huge selection of options can be intimidating, it can be quite comforting - at least for a foodie - to know that regardless of where you are in the city, there are always great food options.

And for those worried that the group could be used by restaurant owners to promote their own establishments, the rules of the group state that any advertising is forbidden.

However, The Star did notice that certain restaurant owners had joined the group and were defending their businesses when certain negative reviews were posted.
