Cape Town - Fresh croissants. Saffron-infused carrot and macadamia panforte. Banana and dulce de leche bread pudding.

These are only some of the tasty treats well-known chefs will be whipping up in the Baking Theatre at this year's Good Food & Wine Show.

The show, which starts on Thursday (May 27, 2016) at the Cape Town International Convention Centre and runs until next Sunday, is Africa's premier culinary event and, with seven focus areas, seven themed theatres, sensory experiences and more exhibitors than before, it offers something for everyone.

Baking buffs can enjoy highlights such as the creation of a life-size rhino cake to raise awareness around rhino conservation and funds for the Rhinos in Africa Foundation and see the results of the South African Cake Decorators Guild cake competition. They can also learn to sculpt sugar flowers, create croissants from scratch, bake pomegranate cake and much more.

Another taste-bud tempting theatre to visit is the Cooking with Chefs Theatre which, for the first time, will be free of charge.

Learn the secrets behind the signature dishes of chefs such as George Calombaris, Adriano Zumbo, Jenny Morris, J'Something and Siba Mtongana through hands-on cooking demos.

If you prefer to be a spectator, take one of the 300 seats in the Chefs Open Theatre and catch these chefs, the Junior Culinary Team of South Africa, blogger-turned-TV star Sarah Graham or MasterChef South Africa contestant Claire Allen in action during 45-minute-long cooking demonstrations.

For a more in-depth and educational experience, join the celebrity chefs in the Chefs Table Theatre for a two-hour masterclass demo, a Q&A session and the chance to sample the dish with them - all at a cost of R600 per person.

The Short Chef Skinny Chef Theatre will feature former MasterChef South Africa competitors, Allen and Siphokazi Mdlankomo teaching audiences time- and money-saving culinary tricks and tips.

Health conscious foodies can head over to the Eat Well, Live Well Theatre to learn healthy cooking tips and hear experts share their knowledge on the latest trends for a healthy lifestyle.

Apart from the Chefs Table, entry to all theatres is free, so check the Good Food & Wine Show website: www.capetown.goodfoodandwineshow.co.za forschedules.
