A compound in cocoa has been shown to reduce symptoms of both acute and chronic coughs.
London - It’s the stuff dreams are made of: a chocolate bar that slows down the signs of ageing.
Scientists have created a chocolate that increases the body’s absorption of the cocoa’s flavanols - chemical compounds in plants that protect the body from ageing and cell damage.
The researchers, from biotechnology firm Lycotec, added an ingredient called Coco-Lycosome, which boosts the properties of the flavanols up to 20 times.
A small chunk of the new chocolate has the same anti-ageing benefits as two normal-sized bars of Cadbury Dairy Milk, it claims.
Sadly, the elixir-of-youth chocolates are not yet available in supermarkets, but Lycotec founder Dr Ivan Petyaev hopes they will be commercially available “soon’”
