National Braai Day shouldn't be your only excuse to light a fire…

As you know a braai is never quite complete without the side dishes.

Try this easy recipe to accompany your braai spread.

Courgettes

Ingredients:

- 8 large courgettes, washed

- olive oil, for brushing

- salt and pepper

Instructions:

1. Cut the courgettes in half lengthways

2. Brush both sides with olive oil and season with salt and pepper

3. Cook on a heated gas braai or over direct heat on the braai grid until lightly browned on both sides

4. Serve drizzled with the chermoula dressing

Dressing

Ingredients:

- 1 small red onion, finely diced

- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed

- 5ml paprika

- 5ml ground cumin

- 180ml olive oil

- 30ml lemon juice

- 10ml grated lemon rind

- 250ml chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well
