All you'll need is some imagination, old tin cans and paint!

Winter can be pretty dull, especially when you look at the state of your garden.

The good thing is that you can add a dash of colour with just a few simple items, and you play your part by recycling old tin cans that you would otherwise through away.

But first, you'll need a sturdy wooden fence to get this idea off the ground.

What you'll need:

- Old non perishable tin cans with labels removed

- Punch holes below cans for drainage

- Spray paint the cans inside and out with a pop of colour to make them stand out

- Leave to dry

Here's where the fun begins and you can let your imagination run wild!

Once the paint has dried, use an electric screwdriver to screw the cans to your fence.

There's no need to strategically place them in any order - make use of a pattern or just go with what your desire.

Fill the cans halfway with soil and compost. Plant with the brightest flowers or herbs you can find. And hey presto!

Oh, and don't forget to water your little beauties.
