Interior designer Paige Waplington has been in the industry since 2009. The owner of Durban-based Redesign Interiors, her love for all things African has led her to think out of the box.

“I believe that design is a form of art and is experienced by each person in a different way. This is why I love to design interiors for individuals, telling their story and using their personalities to inspire me. I create unique, beautiful and functional interiors and love to add quirky elements to bring in some fun,” she says.

Her portfolio includes two showings at Decorex Durban, while her work has taken her across the globe.

However, her first love will always be turning her clients’ homes from drab to fab.

One such project was completely redesigning one client’s home to create a contemporary yet warm feeling.

Paige and her team were given carte blanche to let their creative juices flow. She made use of top-of-the-range finishes, resulting in a glamorous look.

The laser-cut copper and white ceiling in the open-plan kitchen and dining room brought artistic flair to the overall look, while the backlit marble on the wall added some pizazz.

The combination of sleek Niemann board and solid kiaat in the kitchen pulled together a contemporary yet warm design.
