A radio host has opened up about the time she decided to test out love eggs, which caused controversy after they were featured on Gwyneth Paltrow's website.

Heidi Anderson revealed she was given the polished stone, known as Yoni eggs, jade eggs or love eggs, to try by her sexuality coach Rosie Rees.

They’ve apparently been used by women for thousands of years to strengthen the vaginal muscles and were recently endorsed by Goop with the promise of better orgasms.

The 44-year-old actress' site shared tips on how to use jade and rose quartz eggs that reportedly 'increase chi, orgasms, vaginal muscle tone, hormonal balance, and feminine energy'.

The actress is no stranger is offering advice on how to maintain the vagina, including famously telling women to steam their genitals, and is also well-known for promoting unusual gifts on her website.

But writing for Mamamia, Ms Anderson revealed that while she had initially ‘jumped’ at the idea of something that claimed to yield better sex, she had let the three jade stones she’d been given sit in a drawer for 18 months.

‘Too afraid to put them up there, I’ve just let them gather dust… until Saturday,’ she wrote.

She had been advised to loop a piece of string or dental floss through a hole in the eggs to make extraction easier, so she did.

And because she had never done any pelvic floor exercises before, she had been advised to use the biggest stone one about the size of a chicken’s egg.

She said the egg disappeared inside her ‘like a vacuum straight up’ and she immediately freaked out.

Next thing she knew, the floss she’d used had broken and the egg was stuck.

‘How can I be so stupid?’ she thought. ‘I’ll be one of those people my friend, who is a nurse, laughs about.’

She lay down to try and remove it but only proceeded to make the situation worse. Then, she texted Rosie, her best friend and a friend who had used the love eggs before.

After no immediate responses from any of them, she said she panicked even more and even contemplated using tongs to remove the egg.

Fortunately, Ms Anderson concluded that it finally came out another way: ‘I ran to the cupboard, grabbed a towel, crouched down in a squat and pushed. I did it. I gave birth to a Yoni Egg.’
