“Good morning. Family is Life. Woke up with my cousins, 1 more sleep to go. #bridetobe”

Actress Hlubi Mboya has been counting down the days to when she gets to tie the knot with fiance Kirsten Arnold.

The Rhythm City actress (she stars as Thandeka Dandala in the e.tv soapie) posted an intimate Instagram pic of herself and her family as she readies herself for the big day.

Mboya has opted for a traditional Xhosa wedding. She joked that she chose to do so because Western wedding ceremonies were expensive, but the 37-year-old actress is proud to celebrate her culture.

“I'm a traditionalist at the end of the day. I'm Xhosa, you know. I love bringing that back and just reminding myself, being proud...it's family, and it's culture,” said Mboya.

The future Mrs Arnold wants a big family too. Mboya reckons three kids should do the trick, although she does worry that her age might count against her.

Mboya first rose to prominence on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo, playing the character Nandipha. The role made her hugely popular, with a storyline that delicately navigated the idea of living with HIV. Mboya took a three-year break from the small screen after leaving Isidingo, and claims her new character Thandeka is a “refreshing” change.

“It's completely different to Nandipha. I think the fans are going to appreciate that. I appreciate that. It’s refreshing to me.”
