London - She has been with her partner for more than three decades, but has steadfastly refused to become his wife.

Now Goldie Hawn has revealed her reason – she does not want to risk losing her fortune in a divorce.

The actress, reportedly worth around £42.3-million, said she was forced to pay an “inappropriate amount of money” when her marriages to dancer Gus Trikonis and musician Bill Hudson broke down.

Miss Hawn, 69, got together with fellow actor Kurt Russell, 64, when they met on the set of 1984 film Swing Shift.

She told ITV’s Loose Women: “We’ve both been married before, it didn’t work, so why do it again?

“A marriage ends up being a business deal. No matter how long or short it is somebody owes somebody money. I was at the short end of the stick on that one.

“I just looked and thought this was ridiculous, this kind of thing when you’re together, two, three, four or even five years. It’s an inappropriate amount of money to have to pay.”

The Oscar-winner said her daughter, actress Kate Hudson, is in a “similar situation” and is “self-sustaining in many ways, obviously financially”.

Hudson, 36, divorced US musician Chris Robinson in 2007 and split from British rocker Matt Bellamy in 2014.
