Grinning for the camera, The Duchess of Cambridge poses for a selfie with the Queen of tennis, Serena Williams.

The world number one posted a video of Kate on Snapchat, saying: ‘OK so I’m in the “in crowd” now. I’m with royalty.’

In the footage, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is also seen dashing into the shot and cuddling up to the duchess. It is thought to be the first time a member of the Royal Family has featured on the social networking site.

The trio came together yesterday during Kate’s visit to the All England Club for the ladies’ semi-finals.

Speaking to former British number one Greg Rusedski, the duchess hinted that Prince George, who turns three this month, could be a future SW19 star, revealing he is already playing tennis and has his own racket. Kate also said she finds husband William a ‘frustrating’ opponent during family matches because he is left-handed. The Duchess also passed on a word of encouragement for Andy Murray via his coach Ivan Lendl, and apologised for not having seen any of the British number one’s matches yet.

The duchess wore a £900 canary yellow dress by British designer Roksanda Ilincic, which the Duke of Cambridge jokingly said made her look like a banana during their tour of Australia in 2014. She carried a £950 Victoria Beckham Quincy tote and wore Rupert Sanderson’s nude Malory pumps, which cost £425.

Speaking after her win, Miss Williams said: ‘I actually didn’t know they were both here?...?It was a good thing that I did not see.Maybe I would have gotten a little nervous. But, yeah, it was really cool.’

Kate also met Miss Williams’s mother Oracene Price, who is a tennis coach.
