Lost? The answer’s in her hands

London - It’s often said (by men) that women lack a sense of direction.

Now scientists have investigated the issue and come to an intriguing conclusion. They found a way to tell whether a woman can navigate - look at her fingers.

Women who have a shorter ring finger than index finger are apparently more likely to get lost.

And those with ring fingers that were a similar length or longer than their index finger have a better sense of direction. Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that men performed better than women at navigational tasks.

But those women with a more masculine finger length ratio, i.e. a longer ring finger, did better than other women.

The researchers said this could be because a longer ring finger means more exposure to the hormone testosterone while in the womb, which affects how our brains develop. - Daily Mail
