London - Victoria Beckham is a fan and so is Britney.

But there’s something a bit fishy about the latest slimming superfood.

Apparently, bladderwrack contains so much iodine that eating it increases your metabolic rate and helps you burn more calories.

Well, it seems to have worked for Posh - she’s supposed to take hers in seaweed and algae shakes.

Britney simply eats the plant raw. Yuck!

You can also boil it, steam it or simmer it in water and drink it as a tea.

If you can’t stomach that, there’s now a diet pill that contains it. Quantrim costs £34.95 (about R420) for 100 tablets, but has to be combined with a diet and exercise regime to work.

A fishy tale indeed... - Daily Mail
