The annual wedding expo took place this weekend at the CTICC (Cape Town Convention Center) offering brides inspiration for all things wedding. The venue was filled with brides to be along with their bridesmaids and moms....I even spotted a few grooms to be, who looked like they would rather be home watching the rugby, but one should commend them for being there, well done guys!

One of the main attractions of the expo was the bridal wear fashion show which included dresses and outfits for the bridesmaids, best men and the grooms.

Designers show cased bright colored flowing dresses for bridesmaids as well as a laid back leather and jeans look for the chilled best men.

But it was the bridal gowns that were the stars of the show.

Lace is still popular (Pic: Gerry Cupido)

Lace still being a firm favorite for the classic princess style bridal gown.

Layers sheer flowing fabrics made for a more ethereal dresses. It was interested to a few blush and pale nude dresses in between the snow white gowns.

One of the highlights were the dresses covered in 3D flowers and butterflies. A beautiful, delicate touch to add something special to any wedding gown.

Table settings showing off a variety of different themed floral arrangements and place settings were also on display. From elaborate featuring orchid flower arrangements and crystals glasses to a more rustic setting with enamel cups.

What I did find odd was the lack of wedding cake exhibitors. Is the cutting of the wedding cake no longer a big part of the ceremony?

For the brides who struggle to find great wedding photographers, there more enough of those. Showing off their impressive portfolios.

I am sure brides to be left the expo with more than enough ideas and contacts to create a day to remember.

For those outside of Cape Town would be happy to know that will be attend the expo in Durban and Johannesburg.

The dates for those shows are as follows:

Durban at the Durban Exhibition Centre: 5 and 6 August 2017

Johannesburg at the Ticketpro Dome: 26 and 27 August 2017
