London - It could be her stunning complexion, her incredible figure or her piercing green eyes.
But the secret to Scarlett Johansson’s beauty is more scientific, say top plastic surgeons. It’s all in the geometry of her nose.
A team of US surgeons asked almost 4 000 people to rank portraits of women between the ages of 18 and 25.
According to their analysis, the key is the angle between the lip and the base of the nose.
Anything less than 90 degrees was perceived to be droopy, long and masculine – with the optimum angle of upward rotation 106 degrees. The study, published in the Facial Plastic Surgery journal, found Miss Johansson’s slightly upturned nose was deemed to be the ideal shape.
Surgeon Dr Omar Ahmed, from New York University, said: “Throughout history artists and scholars have been engrossed in the pursuit of capturing what constitutes beauty.
“Dating back to ancient Egypt artists idealised facial proportions in their works. But to our knowledge this is the first population-based study which has attempted to determine the ideal nasal tip rotation.”
He went on to say: “A rotation of 106 degrees was found to be the most aesthetic.”
And rhinoplasty expert Charles East, from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, revealed that he does get asked by patients to replicate Miss Johansson’s nose – although he said the “commonest” request from patients is to have a nose like reality star Kim Kardashian. - Daily Mail
