London - Forget the clothes - the biggest trend at London Fashion Week is bushy eyebrows. Blame wild-browed supermodel Cara Delevingne, who has lit up the catwalk for the likes of Burberry, Chanel and Stella McCartney.

“Cara owes her meteoric rise to her dark, perfectly shaped brows,” says make-up artist Lisa Potter-Dixon.

“Power brows lift the structure of your face, open your eyes and frame your features.”

With a few clever tricks, you, too, can learn how to raise the profile of your arches...

LET THEM GROW

“Most people are guilty of over-plucking, but for full, bushy brows, leave them alone for two months,” says Lisa.

“It’s OK to pluck a stray hair, but don’t let your tweezers touch your natural brow line.”

If your eyebrows are sparse, try a growth-boosting product.

CALL IN A PRO

Yes, brows are that serious!

Tinting makes brows look fuller and thicker, takes a few minutes and can last up to six weeks, while threading lays the foundation for the perfect shape.

Want to do it yourself? To get the shape right at home, Lisa says: “The highest point of your arch should be directly above your pupil. To find the position where your brow should taper out, hold a make-up brush to your face - the sweet spot is at an angle of 45 degrees from the corner of your nose.”

TOP WITH MAKE-UP

“The best way to create shape and colour is with wax and powder,” says Lisa.

“For best results, build up colour gradually,” she says. “Follow the natural arch of your brows, using a slanted brush to draw short flicks with the wax.

“Work from the outer edge in towards the centre of your face so the product sits on the skin, not on the hairs.

“Then apply the powder on top of the wax, using the same method.”

COLOUR THERAPY

“Brows don’t have to match your hair colour - in fact, darker eyebrows are better as they will add more definition to your face,” says Lisa.

Her tip is to try some different shades to find the one that flatters your hair colour and skin tone.

COMPLETE THE LOOK

“Follow Cara’s lead and pair your bold brows with statement red lips,” says Lisa.

“But beware of using heavy eye make-up because too much colour can look scarily full on.”

For a youthful look, Lisa recommends smoothing a fine layer of Vaseline on the top of your eyelid.
