London - One of the world’s biggest fashion chains has launched its first campaign featuring a model in a hijab
Mariah Idrissi, a Muslim of Pakistani and Moroccan heritage who lives in London, appears in the new video for H&M wearing the chequered headscarf and a pair of stylish sunglasses.
The 23-year-old beautician chose to start wearing the hijab at the age of 17. When H&M - the world’s second largest global retailer - invited her to star in the advert she was sceptical.
But after her parents gave consent she agreed, saying: “It’s amazing that a brand that is big has recognised the way we wear hijab.”
