The wait is finally over, the Fashion Academy Network launches this year. Only a limited amount of students will be accepted to study at this prestigious college located in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

The college is the home of some of South Africa’s top fashion experts, who will be imparting their knowledge to the next generation of fashion superstars. Because there is a stringent admission process, students that are accepted into the school are guaranteed focused, personal attention.

What’s more, the Academy will select its top four second year students and sponsor them a life changing “Experience Trip” to New York. That is where the students will get to draw inspiration from. By being in the world’s fashion capital, this trip will assist the students in designing their own collection which they will get to showcase at SA Fashion Week once they have advanced to their third year.

Students will also be exposed to retail opportunities. As part of their training, they will manage and run the Fashion Academy Network Retail Store, in all its business elements. It will allow them to sell their own designs, and enable them to build a customer base for their labels.

The Academy is run by three directors. They are:

Dr. Braam Krüger who holds a doctorate in the field of textiles and fashion from the Tshwane University of Technology and has over 35 years' experience in fashion education on a tertiary level.

Kgomotso Moloantoa who has advanced into the media world – as a fashion editor – based on her foundation of success as a fashion model.

Julian Smith is possibly one of SA’s most well-known fashion designers. His Julian label has been sold in exclusive boutiques and prominent retail chain stores and been exported to the USA and Europe.
