What happens when you let a fashion editor loose on a car? Deep purple paint, lots of flowers and a snazzy interior were the order of the day in this case.
Every year Mini turns up at the glamorous Life Ball charity event in Vienna with a trendy new four-wheeled creation styled by fashion designers and celebrities. But this year they called upon the chief editor of Italian Vogue magazine, Franca Sozzani, who is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Fashion 4 Development.
The result is this Mini Roadster Cooper S with Deepest Purple matt paintwork and a floral design on the retractable roof. Her unique touch also extends to golden racing strips and steel-coloured accents on the mirrors and alloy wheels.
The purple colour theme and flower power invasion continue on the seats, dashboard and even the visors, and Mini assures us that only high-grade materials have been used in the cabin.
The inspiration for this creation, says Sozzani, came from beautiful women who used to put scarves on their heads when driving a roadster.
“Flowers are a symbol of joy and life. And the Life Ball is always fighting for life and joy,” she added.
On that note, this year's Mini fetched 54 000 euro (R570 000) during the event's charity auction.
This is the 12th year in which Mini is supporting the event, of which proceeds go to the fight against HIV and AIDS.
