First, there was sideboob. Then innerboob and underbutt. And now, there’s pelvage.
Celebrities have been stepping out in dresses with hip-high slits that reveal their pelvic bones, marking the latest skin-baring red carpet trend – a portmanteau of pelvis and cleavage.
Model Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian’s sister, and actress and singer Keke Palmer are two of the latest stars to sport the risque look.
Jenner, 18, caused a stir when she appeared at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto wearing a dress that was slashed to her waist.
‘Why do one slit when you can do TWO!?’ she asked on Instagram alongside three shots of herself in the white embellished, long-sleeved Fausto Puglisi gown.
Keke Palmer, 20, embraced a shorter take on the trend at the recent BET Awards. The former Nickelodeon star turned heads in a metallic Alon Livne minidress with cutouts that flaunted her hips.
Underwear is optional when showing pelvage, as Paris Hilton demonstrated at her 33rd birthday party in February. Hilton wore a fuchsia Alon Livne cutout gown that left little to the imagination.
But as rapper Iggy Azalea, 24, likely learnt when her sky-high slits caused a serious wardrobe malfunction at the MTV European Music Awards in Amsterdam, one thing’s for sure: double-stick tape is a must. – Daily Mail
