literally! This trend was spotted at recent runway shows in

though there’s been a heated debate about how short is too short?  I would say it depends on your confidence

level, so that you wear the shorts and not the other way round. Local stores

like Woolworths, MRP Fashion and Topman have a wide variety of affordable

options to choose from while GUCCI is your go-to store if you are ready to

splurge.

SOCKS

stylish man’s best kept secret.” Think unique and quirky prints

like soccer balls, moustaches, flamingos, beer bottles… whatever shows your

uniqueness

Manager Conrad Roselt’s perfect summer outfit consists of white sneakers with

colourful socks, tailored black shorts and matching loose fitted t-shirt.

3 STRAP

SANDALS

Beat the heat with this look and no, I’m not talking about

that awkward yoga teacher sandals! From the poolside to a posh brunch spot,

we’re all about wearing sandals! Lee Fraser, men’s fashion and lifestyle

blogger, explains: “Stylish strap sandals are very comfortable and you can

dress them up or down with a casual or smart outfit. Sandals for men are so

trendy right now and can add that missing factor to make your outfit stand out

a bit more.” A lot of designers are also paring socks and sandals on the

runway. As  Vogue mentioned, “German package tourists

will be the very height of chic.”

JACKET

11.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:#111111">The anorak jacket is slowly replacing

the much loved bomber jacket. Conrad Roselt is also a huge fan of this trend: “These

jackets go easy with any outfit and comes in handy with unpredictable weather

especially in Cape Town.” Designers have clearly drawn

inspiration from this trend.

11.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:#111111">Karen Dacre, fashion editor at the

Evening Standard stated: "Mostly because I really enjoy the thrill of

ditching an umbrella, bag and whatnot. But next season, with so many luxe

interpretations on offer, even the well-heeled may fall for its charms."

 5 WIDE

LEG TROUSERS

Choosing a comfortable fit doesn’t has

to result in fashion rejection. If you’re not sure how to pull of this trend, pump

up the volume by opting for a bold combination like wearing faded denim with a

yellow shirt or loose navy trousers with a plain white tee and chunky trainers.

Conrad Roselt, says it’s one his top trends for summer: “It is comfy and easy

to wear especially when paired with a fitted golfer shirt.”

Because it’s not just

women who have to carry important things around! There’s a saying in the

fashionista circle that goes ‘Anyone who is anyone has one’ and that’s how I

feel about a backpack. Cape Town Blogger and Socialite, Lee Fraser explains: “Gone

are the days where backpacks are only used for school or college. If worn

correctly, you can make your backpack a staple outfit piece.”  Choose between a luxe leather backpack,

geometrical prints or a cool and trendy athleisure brand.
