Hollywood actress Vera Farmiga is in Cape Town filming Safe House, a movie starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

Best known for her roles in The Departed and Up In The Air, she met Yair Shimansky at his V&A Waterfront store with her husband, two-and-a-half-year-old son and five-month-old daughter.

She fell in love with a natural diamond neckpiece with matching chandelier earrings, which she plans to wear to a Vanity Fair photoshoot taking place in New York at the end of the month.

Shimansky said Farmiga was very taken with many of the pieces in the store and asked him to get in touch with her New York publicist about sourcing additional pieces for her to wear to other red-carpet events.

“She was very excited about the innovative designs and different coloured diamonds and tanzanite.”

Shimansky also took the opportunity to offer the actress a bottle of his MyGirl perfume, due to be launched at the end of this month.

“It is very exciting that someone as stylish, sophisticated and elegant as Vera Farmiga is the first to get a bottle of our new fragrance,” he said.

The perfume is a freshly-floral scent packaged in a white crystal bottle and is the first to be released by Shimansky. The first 1 000 bottles are a limited edition release, with a MyGirl diamond in one out of every 100 bottles. The fragrance will retail at R795.
