London - Teens might think they have all the style, but a study shows they could have to wait more than 15 years before truly settling on an image.

A study found it takes years of experimenting before women find a look they’re happy and confident with. Most feel they’re in their prime at 35.

One in three grew more comfortable with their appearance the older they get, while three out of four thought their style had improved over the years.

Researchers found one in 20 went as far as to claim they didn’t feel they hit their prime until they were 56. The study – for premium clothes brand CC – also found 59 percent of women admitted they were guilty of dressing “too young for their age”.

A spokesman for CC said: “There is an assumption that your looks and sense of style are at their peak in your late teens and early twenties, but this research shows that it can take a while before you find a style and image that suits.

“Confidence, knowledge and wisdom are crucial when it comes to looking good, you can have all the latest trends and must have fashion items but if you don’t have the confidence to carry it off the whole look is wasted.”

Finding that confidence in your mid-thirties might also be having a knock-on in the kitchen. A separate report claims it takes 11 years to master the perfect roast dinner, usually in our thirties.

Researchers for Asda found two-thirds of us attempt our first roast dinner by the age of 23. However, we don’t feel we have cut the mustard and become fully competent until we are 34. More than half say getting everything ready on time is the hardest part. - Daily Mail
