The Creative Workshops recently held another Fashion Meets Jazz event  where good music, good friends and good fashion meet. #FashionMeetsJazz is a monthly creative and lifestyle event in partnership with The Orbit Jazz Club, which celebrates fashion creatives through jazz and its long love affair with fashion.

Through the intoxicating combination of jazz fashion, guests from all works get to interact with the best of African  fashion, and also join in on a panel discussion dissecting the in’s & out’s of SA’s fashion industry. The topic of the month is ‘Business in Fashion’.The landscape of the business of fashion in South Africa, what forms of specialization are necessary to fill in the industry gaps and the success in the business of fashion were some of the hot topics discussed.

 Tlhogi Letsholonyane, founder of Own It!, which has intimate wear and an academy, Own It!Start Up Academy spoke about how manufacturing industry is dying in South Africa. “Textile and manufacturing industry in the country is dying down a bit so factories are having a tough time sustaining retailing staff. So I took it upon myself to start a company and I started in an intimate way. I literally started my business selling bodysuit,” says Letsholonyane.

 

Pamela Ifeneme of Jideka showcase included clothing from the 2015 Graduate collection paired with pieces of her latest Autumn/Winter collection, Anaaga which represents moving women. The Anaaga collection is inspired by #AfricanContemporaryFashion, representing African women with  a  global outlook.
