Dr Mamphela Ramphele, a leading SA academic, businesswoman, medical doctor and anti-apartheid activist, is set to deliver the keynote address at the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s 156th annual dinner on April 12.
The gala dinner is the biggest business event on Durban’s social calendar. Taking place at Durban’s International Convention Centre, it attracts more than 1 000 captains of industry and local political leaders.
Ramphele, at present the chairwoman of Goldfields and the Technology Innovation Agency, graduated as a medical doctor in 1972 from the former University of Natal.
The Mercury is the official media partner of the dinner, where the winners of the 5th annual Alec Rogoff Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) Awards will also be announced.
The awards recognise BEE efforts by KZN businesses and is hosted by the Durban Chamber in association with AQRate KZN.
The deadline for the awards is March 9.
