A juicy apple for Vodacom Durban July favourite, Jackson, who goes into his final preparation for Africa's greatest horseracing event on Saturday.
Three-year-old Dynasty colt Jackson remains the firm favourite to win Saturday’s R3 million, Grade 1 Vodacom Durban July over 2 200m at Greyville in Durban, but faces a stiff task, carrying 57kg and having to start from a wide draw.
But Mauritian-born jockey Karis Teetan has shown little concern for his predicament and has apparently made plans on how to overcome the draw.
Without giving anything away, he said he has great confidence in the ability of the Brett Crawford-trained colt to justify the faith that thousands of punters have placed in him and give Crawford the win he lost by a whisker 10 years ago with racehorse Angus.
There has been no change in the betting, but with just a week to go the activity in the betting market is expected to intensify with some of the longer priced runners coming in for support.
The latest betting on the race is: 18-10 Jackson; 15-2 Ilha Bela; 8-1 Vettel; 10-1 English Garden; 14-1 Beach Beauty; 15-1 Chesalon; 16-1 Gold Onyx, Pierre Jourdan, Gorongosa; 25-1 Pomodoro, Sage Throne; 33-1 Whiteline Fever, Eton Square; 40-1 Tales Of Bravery; 45-1 Castlethorpe; 50-1 Polar Bound, Royal Bencher, Top Seller, Solo Traveller, Smanjemanje.
