For the second time this month, the SABC offices in Durban’s KE Masinga Road (Old Fort Road) were broken into, it was disclosed yesterday.
Despite the tight security, thieves made off with equipment said to be worth thousands of rand when the offices were burgled on Thursday night.
Police said that no arrests had been made.
A source, who asked not to be identified, said that entry had been gained through smashed windows, and that among the items taken from the newsroom were two laptop computers, two laptop bags, a wallet and four desktop computers.
Asked what the implications were of security being compromised twice in the same month, SAPS spokesman Vincent Mdunge said: “It tells you they (criminals) are very brazen.”
Mdunge said it was possible that it was the same criminals involved, as the modus operandi was similar.
But in the first robbery, equipment had not been removed, he said.
